In recent months, both cities and states have moved to control how CBD is sold. Maine and New York City have moved to crack down on edible products containing CBD. New York’s health department confirmed to the New York Times that it has started ordering restaurants to stop selling CBD-laced food because it has not been “deemed safe as a food additive.”
Sure, the info available in the public domain is confusing, to say the least, but be sure to do some due diligence before spending your money. Most importantly, know what it takes to narrow down to the best CBD oil for your needs. With that being said, the information provided here will come in handy when trying to find critical answers concerning CBD oil. Another point worth clarifying is the difference between hemp seed oil (or hemp oil) and CBD oil. There’s confusion on this point for the very good reason that both CBD oil and hemp seed oil are extracted from the industrial hemp plant. But there’s a big difference between the 2. Hemp seed oil has been pressed from hemp seed, and it’s great for a lot of things — it’s good for you, tastes great, and can be used in soap, paint — even as biodiesel fuel.
CBD oil has an analgesic effect. In other words, the compounds in the oil can interact with the receptors in your brand and immune system to reduce the intensity of inflammation and by extension alleviate pain. A study published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine established that CBD lowered inflammation in mice and rats significantly. On top of that, a 2008 review also found that indeed, the oil can relieve pain with no or mild side effects.
In the 1970s, President Nixon declared a “War on Drugs” and signed into law the Controlled Substances Act of 1970. This law established a set of banned drugs and created the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). It also unintentionally outlawed one of the world’s oldest domesticated crop, hemp. This not only led to the demise of hemp, but also an increased misconception of the plant.
Hemp-derived CBD oil products were made federally legal in December 2018 with the signing of the 2018 Farm Bill. However, several states still have laws in place that restrict the sale and possession of these products. While most companies selling CBD oil are shipping to all 50 states, you should consult your local laws or an attorney in your area if you have concerns about legalities.
Last year, the Hemp Industries Association (HIA) estimated the total retail value of all hemp products sold in the U.S. at $620 million. Sadly, all of the raw hemp materials were imported from other countries. (More on that later.) Hemp is an attractive rotation crop for farmers. As it grows, hemp breathes in CO2, detoxifies the soil, and prevents soil erosion. What’s left after harvest breaks down into the soil, providing valuable nutrients.
To be clear, there is no one specific test, scan, or anything else of the sort that you can do to determine whether or not you need CBD oil for pain. Also, since cannabis is not yet recognized by the FDA, you unfortunately can’t really go to your doctor either and have them recommend it; until marijuana is FDA-approved, it cannot be prescribed by physicians.
I’m glad so many of you have been helped; I tried it upon recommendation from accupuncturist to help with anxiety & funny mood in the afternoon. The first night I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t get back to sleep, and had the most horrible constant headache for the 3 days after I took it (and I hadn’t had a headache in months). Also had the anxiety/funny mood all day long. And burning eyes.
Research conducted by Vandrey and his colleagues has even shown that some CBD products contain significant levels of THC—which could get a child high and cause other unpleasant side effects. “This is an area that exists in a grey area of legality,” Vandrey says. “And because of that, anyone thinking about using cannabidiol, of any type, should proceed with caution.”
